Deggendorf Institute of Technology
The European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) is the of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology’s international teaching campus. Located between the beautiful hills of Lower Bavaria in Southern Germany, ECRI has a student population of 700 students from 80 nations. It is Bavaria’s most international campus where all undergraduate and postgraduate courses are taught exclusively in English.
Surrounded by three well-known spas, ECRI’s focus on the tourism and health sector is ideal. The B.A. in International Tourism Management / Health and Medical Tourism and M.A. in International Tourism Development are modern and practical courses, with the undergraduate course having a compulsory internship integrated into the programme. The specifics of business and tourism, including the ability to innovate and develop are taught throughout both courses.
In light of the increasing globalization of the tourism industry, these courses place great importance on the development of students' language skills. Students are required to complete language classes, soft skills classes and cross-cultural skills development classes, equipping them as graduates to competently manage the complex, international environment of tourism, particularly health and medical tourism. These cross-cultural skills are put into practice as students are encouraged to undertake exchange semesters at one of the university’s 200 partner universities located in 60 countries around the globe. Practical research is conducted in ECRI’s tourism lab, focusing on customer experience, smartness, sustainability and health.
ECRI was awarded the ESPA Award in 2019 for Innovative Spa Educational Programme for its B.A. in International Tourism Management / Health and Medical Tourism. Additionally, the university was proud to receive two U-Multirank awards in 2019, the Award for International Orientation of Degree Programmes and the Award for Contact to work Environment.
