CISARSKE LAZNE - IMPERIAL SPA
The Kaiserbad was a 19th century bath house, built in the looks of renaissance grandeur. It is situated next to small river Teplá on the southern end of Karlovy Vary in Mírové náměstí. The Imperial Spa was considered a prestigious spa institution with the most state-of-the-art balneological facilities in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
The building of the Imperial Spa, renamed to Lázně I (Spa I) in 1918, had served balneological purposes until the 1980s. The Zander Hall was later converted into a casino. The complex was ultimately closed in 1994. In 2006 it became popular again as a film set for the famous James Bond's Casino Royale movie, when building was turned into a casino again.
In recent years, the building of the Imperial Spa has been renovated by the Karlovy Vary region as it has been declared a National Cultural Monument
