About Haapsalu

Haapsalu is the oldest resort in Estonia, famous for its healing sea mud. The first studies of the rare natural healing resource from the bay of Haapsalu date from the beginning of the 19th century. Dr Carl Abraham Hunnius, a military physician, was the first to present the therapeutic impact of the mud. His initiative led to the opening of the internationally known mud baths here in 1825. And this year, Haapsalu is celebrating the 200th anniversary!
