Slovenian Spas Ended 2022 on a High Note

The Slovenian Spas Association celebrate a successful 2022

Following a challenging and tumultuous 2022, the Slovenian Spas Association ended the year positively. The number of overnight stays trailed only slightly behind the numbers recorded in 2019.

Slovenian Spas headed into 2023 in excellent condition and with good prospects. With positive results achieved in 2022, when numerous spa and health resorts were fully booked, they are already preparing for a new season. The main motive for guests visiting spas is undoubtedly healing water paired with relaxation programs in saunas and other inspiring programs.

Slovenian thermal spas recorded 2,790,000 overnight stays in 2022

The Slovenian Spas Association prepared an overview of visits and overnight stays in Slovenian thermal spas in the past year. Last year, thermal and health spas in Slovenia hosted 765,000 guests who generated slightly less than 2,790,000 overnight stays. Compared to 2021, the data shows promising prospects for the future of Slovenian spas.

Over 321,000 foreign guests visited Slovenian spas in the past year, which represents 25% less compared to 2019. The decline was expected, yet it is smaller than the forecasts made at the end of 2021. In total, both domestic and foreign guests generated 765,000 arrivals, which is only 3.6% less than in the record year 2019. Foreign guests generated 1,134,000 overnight stays – 28% less than in 2019. The total number of generated overnight stays (2,790,000) only trails 7% behind the successful year of 2019.

The key reasons for visiting thermal and health spas are health benefits, excellent cuisine and attractive programs that include numerous animations. Needless to say, all spa resorts comply with strict hygiene recommendations and safety measures.
